Which fish swim at the top of the tank and what swim at the bottom?

21:17

I want to put some small fish (as small as possible and no more than 3 inches full grown) in with my little tetra (they are neon tetra and rosy tetra). So I want to make my tank pretty and add some fish that swim on the bottom and some that swim on the top that will also get along with me tetra. Thanks!

If you have tetras you should keep them in groups of 5 or more each. That's fine for the neons in a 10 gallon tank but rosy tetras are gonna get too big. If you can take the rosys back to where you got them see if they'll trade them for neons. A big group like 10 or 12 neons will swill all over the tank.

If you don't want all the same thing, you still need to get at least 5 neons and maybe 3 dwarf corys that stay at the bottom and a couple male guppies or a male betta for the top. Don't believe the bull some people will tell you that bettas will kill all the other fish in the tank. They only fight with other bettas and fish that look like bettas, so corys and neons would be okay.

If you have the right amount of both species of fish in your tank (6+ each) your tank is already fully stocked. I dont recommend adding any more stock to the ten gallon.

However, if you MUST add fish, add around 5 corydoras of the same species, they are a shoaling fish and need a group. Do your research smaller species such as panda corys are about they only thing that will fit comfortably in a ten gallon tank. Also these fish need a soft or smooth substrate due to the sensitivity of their barbels. They will cruise the bottom of the tank and keep it clean, supplement that with algae wafers and or sinking pellets.

your tetras obviously swim wherever they want but fish that swim on to or bottom are

TOP Dwelling fish

-Upside Down catfish

-Guppies (swim middle to upper lvls)

BOTTOM

Snails (get different colors so they dont over populate)

-Corydoras(cory for short) catfish

I can't name that many that grow 3 inches or less, im sorry.

Not that many top or bottom dwelling fish are compatible with neon tetras.

fish swim wherever they want :P

get some small placoes
